Can anyone help, I need to replace the centre chrome screw on one of a 1964 Jazz bass machine head tuners, its missing, although I am in the uk any help would be appreciated. I don't know if there is a good place for spares like this.

You can't pull it out and match it up at a machine shop? Or a luthier specializing in Fenders? Otherwise just replace the entire machine head, which on a vintage 1974 Fender you would be loath to do.

Machine head screw?
Easy.
A few red lights.
A few old beds.
Make a place to sweat.

If I had access to my bookmarks I'd find you something.

In the meantime I'm sure someone here can help.

So, by "centre" screw, I assume you are referring to the machine screw that holds the gear in place.
There are 4 other screws that hold the mounting plate onto the headstock.
I don't know what else might constitute a centre screw.
Unfortunately, I do not know the size of that screw.
I also do not know of any suppliers of individual parts for vintage bass tuners.
You'll likely have to follow linnin's advise.
I'm sure it will be a relatively common size, like maybe a 10-24 x 12.
Don't quote me, that's just a wild guess.

Many thanks for your help, have found an engineering company to supply them, I will now have 50 of them but at least they will match.
