I can see why you'd feel that way, after that, especially with the price on that thing.

I think I could've gotten an MIM Standard Fretless Jazz at that time, and had a nicer board on it. I can't swing the price on an Am. Pro. now anyway, but live, and learn on that one. Go Buttercream Player Jazz. Image

Yeah, I'd say so. You know, they do make Player Series Jazz in fretless, not to induce any GAS. :P It's a Pau Ferro board, though. I think about the only time they've ever had a fretless with a maple board was with the fretless Precision they had back in the 70's. In fact, when I was down in Fort Lauderdale back in the 90's, I played on one. That guy that lived there that was a friend of the friend I went with to go hang out there owned it.

That was nice configuration for a fretless bass. You were in my back yard somewhat, in Fort Lauderdale. I thought about a Polar White Player fretless Jazz, but the Buttercream Jazz had a louder voice calling my name. I could've played either one, but like I said the Buttercream is the Axe!

Yeah, I was in Fort Lauderdale in the summer of 1994. I remember it was hot like hell around there when I was there. It was also about a 4 hour drive to get there from St. Pete, and we had to go over the Skyway Bridge. Florida is a pretty damned big state, when you think about it.

You think if you ever get the extra cash again, you might want to pick up that fretless as a second bass, or you're just going to stick with one?

Yeah, Florida can be a pain to get around in. It takes what seems like forever just to get out of the state, to get up to see our daughter in Alabama.

No, I think a second bass is not in the cards. I can get into enough trouble with the single Jazz. And yes, the same goes for the amp as well. Pretty boring, right?

Yeah, I remember when I took the Amtrak to leave the state, it took 7 hours just to get to Tampa to Jacksonville, but I think there was a massive delay, because there were some fires going on up around that part, or maybe it was in Georgia. That was back in 2003.

I wouldn't say that's boring. Most of the time, I use just the Ibanez bass, and plug into the Fender amp. I'll eventually be running the Ampeg when I gig out, and practice for that, though.

Trains sometime have stops they do along the way. For me now anyway, one bass, one amp works fine.

You know speaking of that train, the weird thing about it, the two times I've been on it, albeit an 8 year time difference, it had a derailment afterwards. Talk about a creepy coincidence, and imagine if I was on it a little later than I was.

Hey, sometimes just one is all you need. Of course, music shops don't like you to think that, or not have any GAS, though. :P

The wife, and I took a train up, and back to Columbia, SC, about 30 plus years ago. It wasn't too bad. The midnight one hour layover, in Norcross, GA, was a bit of a pain.

Yeah, trains aren't too bad to travel. I think it would be easier if you have a sleeper car, so you can have a bed, though. It wasn't easy trying to sleep in one of those seats.

You're sooooo right on about trying to sleep in a regular coach seat.

Yeah, at least they got those neck travel pillows, which I didn't have, and could have used. That would have helped, since that was the main issue I had, more than the fact I didn't have a bed. At least I had a window seat.

I can sleep with my head unsupported, the seat to me was just uncomfortable. I'm still working on sleeping standing up, with no success to that. I fall over a lot. Image

I imagine when you were in the service, especially in Vietnam, sleep must have been a luxury.
