I'm getting to like the options the 10 band EQ offers, and it being a slide bar, in place of rotating knobs. As much as I thought the Standard Series was good, I think the Player Series is gooder. "What"? Ok, better.

It certainly does seem like an improvement.

Mainly like I've said, the pups, and the electronics seem to have made the grade on it.

That's really the main thing, other than the feel of the neck, and all of that. If the pickups aren't too good, then you'll won't get the best results, I think.

That's right.

I think when you get a really good amp, and/or speakers, you definitely know how good your pickups are, as well.

It does sound well, like you say. I do remember the Standard Series pups didn't sound quite as good overall, as compared to the Alnico V's that I had a several Am. Std. Jazzes.

Those Alnico V pickups must be the key to the sound you like, then.

I didn't object to the CS60's that were used to replace the Alnico V's, in the 2012 Am. Std.'s. They were ok, but I would've preferred to have had the Alnico V pups in the Am. Std. It's pretty safe to say, my sound is from the Alnico V. It sure doesn't hurt that are used in the Player Series.

Would you say that's your preferred pickup, then?

Yes, I'd say so. I wouldn't consider changing it out, for any other pups to go on my Player Jazz. A good tone, and a responsive sound.

It does sound like a good, solid tone, from what I've heard with the demo videos, which of course you have to factor everything else in, when watching those. You know, that got me wondering what sort of pickups are in my Ibanez bass, if they have that Alnico thing going on or not. Probably nothing too elaborate, since the bass is pretty much $180 new, but it does play and sound nice.

Pretty much from what I know about the Alnico pups, the magnet poles in the pups are Alnico type magnets in them. I would think if your Ibanez has Alnico magnets in the pups, that's a Alnico. There are differences in the Alnico magnets. The Fender Am. Std.'s, and Player series use Alnico V's.

The Alnico pups are fine. If you do have Alnico, that would be great. I wouldn't be too concerned about it. If you like the sound the Ibanez is doing, that's super. I think your Ibanez is one fine short scale.
