Well, the tort finish does match or compliment the Buttercream finish quite well, I think. I also think the maple fretboard looks nice with that finish, as well.

I'm glad that it was just being over looked at the local SA store. For what ever reason again, I seem to like a bass, or amp there, that not too many others even look at.Image

Who knows, maybe it was just meant for you to have. I think stuff like that can happen from time to time, when you just happen to be at the right place, at the right time, and especially with the means to get it.

The big thing that swung that deal, the SA sales manager that dropped the price. It kept me playing a Fender Jazz, instead of a Sterling Ray-24.

I may not have played the Sterling, and liked it as I do the Fender anyway. I'm really pretty much a Fender Jazz guy, I guess.

Well that, and occasionally a Gibson, Rickenbacker, Epiphone, and Hofner thrown into the mix. I guess I'm an Ibanez and more or less a Squier person these days, myself. :P

True, and forget the Music Man. A Fender Jazz was always my go back to bass. So, here I am with a Fender Jazz.

That's true, you have gone with a Jazz the most. Although, I will say, you had your last Ric bass a very long time, considering.

Yep, on the Jetglo. I did have one other 4003 longer than the Jetglo. It was a Ruby Red 4003. The Jazz neck always seems to be a good fit for my playing. And recently, short scales, and myself, didn't work out well. The Fender Mustang PJ, and the Epi Viola taught me that one.

Well, short scales can be something to get used to, especially if you're used to playing on something else. I remember when I first got the violin bass, it was awkward as hell, because the neck was smaller, and I was playing on that Schecter Jazz, then that Precision Bass, which I've recently regretted selling, but you know how that goes.

I have to say, I do get a close representation of a Precision sound, if I solo the Precision pickup on my Ibanez, though. I noticed that when I was messing around with it the other day, through the Fender amp. It's not exactly the same as the real deal, or the Squier version of that, which is pretty much the closest you can get to a Fender without technically being a Fender, I think anyhow.

Speaking of that Mustang Bass, I was going through all of my saved bookmarks that I have, and I was looking at the Chicago Music Exchange site, and they had these special edition models that Fender did for them: https://www.chicagomusicexchange.com/pa ... ang-basses I have to say, I think they look pretty cool. 8)

Nice Mustang PJ with the Maple fretboard. I'm still very content with the Player Jazz I have. The neck action, and pups play well. The way I am anymore, a Jazz, is a Jazz. And all that Jazz. What???

Oh yeah, that's right, they aren't typically with maple boards, are they? I'm kind of partial to the Shell Pink one, since I do like the less conventional finishes, like when they had the orange one. I'm not sure if I'll really go back to long scale basses, or not. It's hard to say at this point, since I really do like how they play, and it has made me more adaptable to playing the guitar. I suppose if the opportunity arose for a Precision Bass, that would be a different story. :P

Jazzes are pretty cool, too. I already have one, so I don't really need to get another one, although I will say I do like the one you have, as well. If I didn't have a Jazz at all, and wanted one, that would be certainly on top of the list. I don't think it's necessary to have to go for the more expensive ones, especially since that has a maple board, as well, which I'd want.

I just finished playing my jazz for just under two hours, and I'm really staying with a long scale Jazz. I know what you're saying about not sure if you would go back to long scales, from short scales. I felt the same way years ago when all I was playing was shorts. Then I played a Jazz, and it played nice.

Yeah, I'm not really sure, since I do like what I'm playing now. I suppose it would come down to if anything pops up in the future that might change that. You never know with gear, since you could have something for a long time, then you change it up for whatever reason, usually to wind up regretting it, though. Another thing, is the office I typically play in is very small, with two built in tables, in an L-shaped fashion, with the doorway on one side, and a window on the opposite, so a short scale takes up less space, and less likely to smack against something.

I've heard this room was once an elevator shaft, which as weird as that may sound, it wouldn't surprise me with how this house is. It was built in 1882, but it looks like it's been cut up and pieced back together in different ways over the decades. I think it was a rooming house at one time, or something like that. There was once a kitchen in a bathroom on the 2nd floor, above this room, and I suppose the end of the elevator, whenever that was. The other hall bathroom used to be a laundry room, because there is still a dryer vent in the wall there, and electrical plates in the walls that used to have some sort of outlets. There's a claw foot tub there now, with some tiny closet built there, and a shower stall after that. I know that closet wasn't there originally, because there is an old, small window inside of it, that's original to the house. Obviously, the shower wasn't there, either. They didn't have those in 1882. That's just a few oddities around here. It would be cool to see the original planes to this place, to see what it was like originally.

That does sound pretty unique, to say the least. It would be interesting for you to see the original floor plans of it, before being rearranged.
