You know, I've thought about doing that to a bass, but I never did. I was afraid of totally trashing the neck, since I wasn't sure what I would have been doing at the time.

It's not that tough. If you take a soldering iron you can heat up the freehand melt the glue. What I did was take a nail punch and a hammer and tapped the end of the fret after heating it up and they popped right out.

Oh, OK. I thought you had to yank them out with pliers, or something like that.

Looks pretty good. 8) That gives it a vintage vibe to it, I think.

It does seem to match well with the color of the Jazz, I think. 8)

I'm in favor of the this particular Tort PG with the Buttercream myself. I have a second Tort that's fairly close to this one, but it has a character a bit different.

I suppose they aren't exactly alike with their patterns.

Yeah I learned the soldering iron trick from Rich Applemans column in Bass Player years ago. Actually I think he said use pliers after heating the frets but I found tapping them out with a nail punch worked much better.

They have the opening at the heel for the neck adjustment.Image

Oh yeah, that's right, those models have the truss rod access at the bottom of the neck.

Yep. But the actual PG, and mounting screws matchup perfectly on the Am. Std., Std. Series, Am. Pro., and Player Series. I don't care that the PG has the truss rod access notch there.

As long as the holes match up, that's what matters. You know, I didn't even notice that about that until you mentioned it. It doesn't look like something is off or missing at all.

All it shows, is the actual truss rod access notch, at the head, and the opening for the truss rod access notch at the heel in the PG. Some people think it's a way of trying to pull off an MIM, for an MIA.
Some of the Rumble players change out the Fender Rumble Badge on their Rumble cab with a Fender Bassman Amp Badge. Like it really matters.

Well, I've removed the Carvin badges from those cabs when I had them, so I'm not one to talk about doing that. :P Actually, that was an aesthetic decision, because it looked better with the Orange head at the time.

I'm not saying there's anything wrong with removing an amp's badge. I have enough of the Bassman Amp Badges to sell them to Fender Parts Department.
