You know, not to get GAS going or whatever, they also have a new Player Series fretless Jazz out, as well. I remember a couple of years ago you were playing on a fretless. Have you even seen those around or checked them out?

Yeah, I know the fretless are out, and I haven't seen any locally. I do play fretless well, but I'm not going there. I like the fretted Maple.

It's probably good that they aren't around, otherwise GAS might hit like an SOB. :P You know, I haven't played on a fretless probably since 1995, and haven't seen one in person since then.

They usually are very rare to see locally. The last fretless I had, was that Am. Pro. with the messed up board. They are nice to play, but I don't miss them. I do miss a good old Maple board on a Jazz. So the world is good.

This Gator TSA Case is a really protective case. It feels to be heavier than the comparable Fender TSA case.

I suppose fretless basses aren't in much high demand in the first place, but I could be wrong. That was the case you had previously?

Yeah, the board had tool indentures into the Rosewood. Little nicks in the wood that was from tools in a couple of sections on it.

Well, that wasn't good, especially for a bass in that price range.

That's what really started to get me going about it. And, just that let it out the door like that.

Yeah, I don't blame you. Sure, if it were a $300 Squier, that's one thing, since you'd half expect that, but that wasn't.

I would expect any Fender brand name to look better than that Am. Pro did. There are differences of course in the parts on the different Fender Series Basses. But whatever they are, there should at least be craftsmanship, QC, etc. on them.

At my dads place in Maine I have an Aria Pro Integra that I ripped the frets out of, filled in the slots with plastic wood and put a coating of marine grade fiberglass resin on. I played it exclusively for a couple of years.

I agree, especially if you're going to drop over a grand on them. Maybe $1000 doesn't go as far as it used to?

You know, I've thought about doing that to a bass, but I never did. I was afraid of totally trashing the neck, since I wasn't sure what I would have been doing at the time.

I'm liking the Player for about $1,000. dollars less than the Am. Pro. Would have run.

It's not that tough. If you take a soldering iron you can heat up the freehand melt the glue. What I did was take a nail punch and a hammer and tapped the end of the fret after heating it up and they popped right out.
