I was always wondering why they didn't have a small Am. Std. marking on the back at the top of the head. The same with the Am. Pro.
The MIM Standard only has Made In Mexico, and the serial number on the back of the head. The front of the Standard head, just has the 70's style Fender decal.

Is the serial number on the back of the head stock with the American Pro?

Yep, just like the Am. Std. The Standard has it's serial number on the back of the head too. It also has no Series name on it either. Fender I guess likes to keep what series they are a secret.

I may mount the Tort PG on the Am. Std. also. I'm not sure.

You have two of them, or you want to swap this one on to the other bass?

I did switch the two Tort PG's from the Fretless to the Fretted, and vice versa. The more ornate Tort PG looks better on the Fretless, since the Fretless board is very plain without any fret dots on the board. And the Fretted has the more plain Tort PG, that goes better with the fret dots on it's fretboard.

I re-mounted the ornate Tort PG to the Am. Std., and mounted the third ornate Tort PG to the Am. Pro. The less ornate Tort PG from the Am. Pro. goes into storage for a bit.

Just to make the two look a bit more a like.

That bass totally reminds me of John Paul Jones' Jazz. 8)

That's a high compliment. Thanks Paul. It's very ironic how I've gone full circle to 3-Color Sunburst / Rosewood / Tort PG. At one point in time, a Tort PG wasn't my favorite PG on a Fender Jazz. I guess I never really had any Tort's that I liked as much as I like the ones I've collected lately. This Tort on the Am. Std., is my favorite Tort PG of the three I have now.
