That's a nice looking bass. I can see why you want to swap out the pick guard, though.

Thanks Paul, I think it looks decent myself.
The Mint Green PG, is on all of the Am. Pro. Basses. A subtle way to hopefully get owners, and players of the Series to spend more money on replacement PG's. A Black, or a Black Moto PG is going on it the Fretless, and then a set of ETB92 Nylons. I'd really like to find out who, and why it was decided to use the Mint Green on the entire series of basses. I can at least say I prefer the Parchment PG on my cheaper Standard Arctic White Jazz. It's kinda' ironic the way that worked out. I like that combination anyway.

Sounds good. Where did you order it from, Sam Ash?

Nice one. 8) You know, at least from the pics, it looks like the other one you had, but I guess the changes they put on it aren't necessarily that visual.

The pups are different, but have the same covers. The tuning keys are a bit different, but unless you know what you're looking at, they look the same. The one thing that to me was the most noticeable, was the decal on the front of the head. Under the Fender name, it now says, "Corona, CA", instead of "Made In USA", like the Am. Std. head decal did. Other than that, it's basically an American Jazz. Pro., or Std. Fretless.

Oh yeah, I see what you mean. There isn't the other small print info like they use to have under the logo, too. Then again, I know they seem to put the serial number in the back now and I'm probably thinking of the basses I had that were from the 70's and the 90's. I wonder why they didn't say "Made In The USA" on it, like they use to?

That's I guess the way Fender is differentiating between the Am. Std. series, and the Am. Pro. The two series look almost identical, and the Corona, CA, Made In USA are the only difference in the head decal. The back on both heads is the same on both.

There are two little noticeable changes on the two heads, Am. Std./Am. Pro. The color of the inside of the name Fender on the decal on the Am. Std. was a darker color, than the lighter, brighter color of the name Fender Am. Pro. head decal. And the other change on the head decal, the Am. Pro. says Corona, CA, instead of Made In USA as the Am. Std. said.
The Am. Std. top, Am. Pro. bottom.

I almost didn't catch the color differences at first. But other than the different decals between the two, I don't believe there's any other way to set them apart. Am. Std., and Am. Pro. The Corona, CA, and Made In USA I picked up on right away.
