No I haven't, but basically the AC has the CS60's, the Player Alnico V's. A HiMass bridge on the AC, the Player a vintage bridge. A hard shell case with the AC, nothing with the Player series. Fender®/Hipshot® Vintage-Style "Lollipop" tuners, on the AC. The Player standard Fender tuners. AC with White pearloid block inlays. Matching colored headstock on the AC. And a semi rolled fretboard on the AC. The AC adjusts at the heel of the neck, the Player at the headstock.

Another tonal difference would be the maple fretboard on the Player, which does have a different tone to what the AC has. Is it rosewood, or they using an alternative wood for that one, too?

They're still using Rosewood on the AC. You'd figure for that price tag they better use Rosewood like they do.

Yeah, the only thing with rosewood, is it shrinks in cold, dry weather, and then you can get fret end spurs. Of course, you shouldn't have an issue with that in Florida. I never did when I was there. If anything, corrosion from sweat.

That's right with the Rosewood in an area like here with higher humidity. The AC Jazz has a Black Moto PG on it now. I like the darker Rosewood fretboard that this one has on it.

It does have a nice look to it. I think I'll probably get a maple board, if I get another Jazz Bass, though. At least I wouldn't have to worry about the weather with that, since I never did with the Peavey, which has one. At least that's one problem the Peavey never had with it.

The Maple board is a pretty maintenance free fretboard. Long life to it as well.

I'm glad you like it. I like it myself. It's nice to have a darker Rosewood than most have on.

I always wondered why is that rosewood was the most commonly used, even with cheaper instruments, than maple. Maybe that's why it became an endangered species of trees, because of that, and I'm sure it was used for other things besides instruments, as well.

Actually Brazilian Rosewood is extinct but there will alway be a supply of Indian Rosewood. The reason being that in India they plant rosewood trees between rows on tea plantations to shade the tea plants. After a while the rosewood trees get too big and over shade the tea so they need to be cut down and replanted.

Rosewood was used in furniture a while back. My grandparents had some Rosewood furniture that was exquisite. They can't blame the instrument manufactures for a shortage of all Rosewood.

Well, whatever on the plight of Rosewood, and fretboards. I like the setup someone did to makeup my AC Jazz.

I imagine that furniture would have been. That's something I've never really have seen a lot of, but I'm not some furniture expert that's scoured antique shops and that sort of thing. There are a few places around town like that, especially since there's houses here going back to way long before the Revolutionary War, though. But of course, you need $$$.

I never knew that about those. It's too bad they didn't practice conservation efforts with the Brazilian rosewood, maybe they'd might still be around. If you cut down one tree, plant a couple in it's place, that sort of thing.
