Well, I think the things that need doing seem to be minor, which isn't too bad. Still, that bass has had more down time than playing time to it.

That almost sounds like it would be a good player over all.

Well, it is a good player, if everything is correct with it. The neck does have a nice feel to it, and it does have a beefy tone to it. I never would have gotten it, if I had known I'd wind up with the issues that I did, but I guess sometimes these things can pop up and there's not a hell of a lot you can do about it.

Any brand can have surprises down the road.

Yeah, you don't need that. I noticed that you changed the name of this thread again, when it was labeled about the Epiphone EB-3, and you don't have any pics of the Epiphone, so I take it that bass didn't make the cut, as well?

It helped to defray the cost of the AC Jazz. I kinda' went back to my old way of thinking, two basses is enough this old man. I could get by with one, buy I just like the two I've decided to go with.

Yeah, I suppose it's probably better to have one really nice, albeit expensive bass, than a few cheaper ones that you might not even be able to give adequate playing time to, especially since you're not an active full time musician with gigs and recording sessions lined up. Even then, you're probably still better off with just the one bass like that, since a Jazz does cover a lot of ground. You know, in retrospect, if I had it all to do over (then again this would apply to my life, sans basses,) I should have gotten one really decent, albeit more expensive bass, than have a bunch of cheaper stuff, which some of it can be problematic sometimes. The problem when you don't have a lot of money to spend, it's hard to do that, and then there's the impulsive cheap buys, which can sometimes come back to bite you on the arse. I mean you can't get a lot of resale value for something that didn't cost much in the first place, and unless you have something to add to that, you can only go lower on the totem poll.

That's pretty much it for me as you say. At this point in my life, the two I'll have will be what I like the looks of, and for being able to switch off as I like. True, no gigs, and I let it be known a couple of months ago, I'm off the call list for studio sessions. It is nice though to have the one Electric Lady of the two. That one goes with me, when I go. At least the name of it.

You were still doing recording sessions?

Lately, a couple minor sessions. I laid down the bass lines, and the studio used them, or sold them off for whatever.

You don't want to do that anymore?

I may change my mind down the road depending on what the story is on the session. I don't have the problem with the Nylons in a studio. They know my sound.

The AC Jazz is better than I remembered, or maybe this one is better. I was playing today and didn't have a time issue to deal with. It was just under two hours of playing. It really is a clean playing Jazz. Smooth, and effortless. I have to admit to liking the AC over the GL. The feel is more my style for an old man to play. The pups have a more mellow tone to them.

That sounds pretty good then. 8) By the way, have you done any side by side comparisons to the Player Jazz? I'm curious to see how much of a difference there is, considering one is pretty much a third of the price of the other.
