I bought my Standard MiM J-Bass a couple of days ago. While making the choice, I tried the AM Standard and the Deluxe, and yes, I tried the Squier 70s Modified as well. In terms of tone, I eliminated the Squier on the first round. Among the three basses; MiM Standard, American Standard, and Deluxe, I liked the Deluxe best for the ability to play it Active and Passive. At the end of the day, cost made the choice for me with the selection of the MiM Standard J-Bass. The AM Standard and Deluxe sounded great but were they 4 to 5 times better sounding as the price might suggest to some? NO, they were not. I found that the MiM Standard J-Bass was sweet spot in terms of price, quality, and tone. I am a slap player and for a passive bass, the J-Bass has a great slap tone. I am experimenting with string weight to determine the best tone for my taste.

So,.. the Epi EB-3 jumped into my hands, then I played it for a bit. I had a store credit at SA, and it's a long scale with an SG shaped body.

What's the weight on that, compared to a Jazz?

I haven't had a chance to weigh them, but they feel pretty close. Maybe 8.5 pounds.

I've been looking at the Epi Viola's, and the Jack Cassidy's as well lately.

Sounds good. They seem to be making them pretty well these days. 8)

I noticed that the Geddy Lee Jazz pic is gone. Did you have to sell it to get it?
