Well, I just found this place: http://www.voxshowroom.com/northcoast/h ... er_pu.html

I've been to this site many times. They have info on Vox amps, and they sell licensed replica Vox cabs that they make there that you can get with modern speakers. They had a replica of a Vox Foundation cab which I was GASing when I got my 18" cab, and before that.

Very cool. I found the Teacup volume dials I want to get as back up for the ones on Hofner. $20. bucks is a great price on the pups as well. The H512B series pups are the ones that will work on the '64 Reissue.

Yeah, they do seem to have all of the parts. I just thought about another thing, I wonder if the pickups are even the same size in my bass and the Hofner? I was more or less curious about them in the first place, I'd probably wouldn't even bother with it, since I'd be better off just getting a budget Hofner with the time and money it would take to even do that. I'd have to have someone install them, since I don't know how, as well. At least I know they have them available.

Yeah, I've seen a few demo videos and some people talking about them, and they seemed to be pretty good.

The one I had was good, but if I remember, I decided to go with the 500/1 in place of it.

Well, it is the top of the line model, so I don't think you're going to get any better than that one.

That is a tough one to beat overall. I am better off with the '64 Hofner, over the '62, because of the two layer neck on the '64, being a thinner version of the '62 Hofner.

I don't know if I've ever played the thicker '62 Hofner.

I don't know much of the differences, other than that one model had the pickup in the center position and neck, instead of being back by the bridge. There's a website that's all about the old ones from back in the day: http://www.vintagehofner.co.uk/ It's been a while since I've looked through there, but it covers all kinds of stuff with Hofner, and a few other brands that were mainly used in the UK back in the early to mid 60's especially. Before all of the HiWatts and Marshall stacks, and all of that were filling up stages, and things got a hell of a lot louder.

The Hofner with the pup in the mid position is the Cavern Bass. the '64 500/1 Hofner was the first Violin with what they referred to back then as the "pencil neck", because it was a thinner design.
Those monster amps did fill up the stages pretty quick

Yeah, the "Cavern Bass," was the one Paul McCartney had originally, from what I've read. He did bring it back out when they were recording "Let It Be," or around that time, but then it got stolen from Abbey road. I think they had a few things ripped off with it, as well. It was never recovered, so it's probably stashed in some attic, or private collection somewhere. I'm sure it would be worth a lot of money, but of course it's stolen property, so it's not like anyone can flash it around.
