The cool thing about that bass (I'm sure your's is the same, since mine is a copy of it,) is it's kind of loud acoustically, so you can play it unplugged and get some sound out of it. I do that all of the time, sitting on the couch watching a film.

That song definitely had playtime. And used in movie scores as well.

Yeah. I couldn't resist. I'm pretty sure The Meters were the backing band on that. I think there was a law in the 70's if you recorded in New Orleans you had to use them as your backing band.

For some reason, that guy has always reminded me of the band that was on "The Muppet Show." :P I guess they kind of copied him on there a bit.

I think he was. My dad also thinks that Animal was modeled after Mick Fleetwood. They both have the same facial expressions when drumming.

Either him, or John Bonham. Maybe Kieth Moon.

The two Violin Basses should play well acoustically. Mine plays like yours does. Nice acoustical tones as well.

I suppose it is essentially an acoustic instrument by it's design. It has a wooden bridge on it, and it's hollow internally. I'll bet you could get one of those Dean Markley acoustic pickups that stick to the body and get an additional acoustic sound out of it. I wonder if anyone has ever tried that?

Possibly, but not me. I like the Hofner Staple Humbuckings too much to screw with it.

Yeah, that's where the main sound comes from, anyhow. I wonder if those pickups would fit in my bass? They probably cost at least twice what I've paid for it in the first place, though.

I have no idea what the Hofner pups cost. But I would have to think that they're pricey, to say the least.

I think Hofner does sell them, from what I've seen on their website, in the parts section.

When I looked in the parts section, I didn't see any prices, did you? I mean on anything.

Yeah, I also noticed that about the page with their strings. I don't even know where they even sell that stuff.

I may have to ask my sales rep I go through at SW, since they do quite a bit of business with Hofner doing some special custom runs for them. Or maybe on that damn E-Bay. That was the only place I was able to locate the Gibson stamped SG truss rod adjustment cover for the SG Std. bass I had at that time.

Yeah, they seem to be lacking that kind of info on their site. I suppose I could do a search and see what comes up online.

That's what I was thinking of doing as well.
