I just like the 12's sound overall. They have a bit more surface than 10's. And since it's almost ancient history to have a 2X15 cab, 2X12 cabs have 24" over a 1X115 with 15". More surface area over both the more popular 2X210. And 1X115.

A 4 x 12" would be cool, but that's a whole other beast.

Yeah, it's a beefy cab, for the most part.

I have a pair of 1x12 cabs and they sound great. I looked at Eden 2x12 cabs, and they are a beast but 65-70 pounds. I've been going lighter these days, so I got two 12" cabs. 35 lbs each, that's what I'm talkin about.

I was seriously looking at one of those single Eden 12" cabs a couple of years ago. It was the cheaper ones, the EX112 that are 300 watts, or something like that, and little over 30 pounds. I had the idea of using it as a portable option for smaller gigs, and running it with an 18" Celestion speaker I had for bigger shows, but I wound up getting rid of the 18" speaker, (along with another 2 x 10" cab I had that didn't cut it alone, and was going to sell to get the Eden) and getting a Fender 4 x 10" cab. I even got rid of the amp I had, as well. It was an Orange Terror Bass 1000 head, that I sold and got an Ampeg PF-800 head. I'm pretty happy with the rig I have now, although that Eden 12" cab would still make a killer portable cab for small shows, or whatever. You can carry it with one hand, from what I've seen.

The Markbass NY121cab is 29 pounds, just barely under 30 pounds. 400 Watts, 8 ohms. 100 dB SPL, and FREQUENCY RESPONSE 45 Hz to 18 kHz.

Powerful and lightweight are a great combination for bass gear, I think. It certainly makes your life easier when gigging. 8)

If I were gigging, the lighter the better, as long as I didn't sacrifice sound.

That's true. It certainly does make loading in and out a hell of a lot easier.
