Can't really tell without being able to read the serial code, but I can't kinda see a Z at the beginning of it meaning it's made in USA and in 2000 or later. There looks to be a little badge with 60 written on it on the back of the headstock, which means it's a 60th anniversary bass. Do you have anymore pictures?

Wow tiny photo. The 60 badge inset means it was made during Fender's 60th anniversary year. It does not mean it is a commemorative model. There were commemorative 60th anniversary models and then there were the usual models they make all the time. Every Fender instrument made in 2006 got one of those badge insets. They did the same thing in 1996 using stickers for Fender's 50th.

With a clear serial Fender can often provide detailed information such as specs and the dealer to whom it was shipped. Contact them via email at:
consumerrelations@fender.com

Try phoning or faxing.
Telephone: (480) 596-7195
Fax: (480) 367-5262

If you can not phone or fax, that leaves Snail Mail!

It always helps to email from a real email account instead of an online one like Yahoo or Hotmail. Many spam filters pass almost no messages through from online email accounts to the inbox because they are a known origin for spam. Also make sure the subject line is clear. Messages with no subject line often will never make it to an inbox.

+1

Curious that two of the pics are scaleable while the image that could best shed some light on the instrument's true pedigree is not......

I smell tuna!
