Hi All,

Hoping someone can led me some advice.

The screw holes on my Jazz Bass seem to be worn away and I cannot screw the neck pickup in. The screws simply pop out due to wear (even though the bass has only ever been touched once in this area in its short 2 year life). What is the best solution to this problem? What is the go to solution for such things? I know I could put wood sealant in it, but im nervous about messing things up even more. Does anyone have a solution to this problem? I just need to screws to stay in.

Thanks for all advice. I did try and find the answer on here before asking but couldnt find it.

Ben

Under each pickups there is a kind of rubber that acts as a spring. They can not be compressed too much without damaging the wood under the screws.
See the picture, the black rubber on brass plate.

Wood is easy to repair, you need to pull of the pickups to fix the damaged holes;

1- Use a piece of toothpick with a drop of carpenter glue. Easy to start with a screw.
Or
2- Use any good wood filler, wait until it perfectly dry and, with a drill, make a small hole to start the screw, Wood filler come too hard to start with a screw.

+1. Same solution works for stripped strap button screw holes too!
