Hi all,

Just a curiosity ...
those who produce the Fender strings for the Fender bass?

For example 7250M_NPS strings

Andrea.

If you mean who makes Fender strings for them the answer is a trade secret. Many say D'Addario makes them to Fender specs for Fender but I am not saying that. They do say made in the USA now and used to be made in Mexico at Fender's factory there. I honestly do not know. I was puzzled when Fender got out of the string manufacturing business though.

D'Addario most definitely does manufacture all of Fender's strings to F.M.I.C.'s specifications, and are not just repackaged XLs or Chromes.

Read the thread! There are references cited and great deal of research done. You are greatly mistaken about a good many things.

It is unfortunate that you decided to go into personal attack mode. All I did was ask a simple question and you end your response with a personal attack?

I read the referenced thread and still wonder if can you tell me where you got this information or is it just assumed on your part? For your reference you cite a post which you wrote on another forum that states, "We do know that D’Addario is producing Fender’s bass strings to Fender’s specifications," which does not list a credible information source for the statement. That is a non-reference. It is you saying the same thing again with no provenance. How do you know this? I am asking because I hear this all the time but nobody can give me any valid credible reference that it actually is the case.

I am not saying D'Addario is not making them, I am only saying I have never seen a credible reference to that effect from anyone in a position to have direct knowledge of the arrangement. Meaning anyone at FMIC or D'Addairo. It would be nice to see one and know for sure which is why I asked you.

Now please list the good many other things I am greatly mistaken about. Let's clear the air and get back to being bass buddies. The alternative to rectifying this is not attractive to me at all. I'd rather find out what burrs are under your saddle regarding me and deal with them here and now.

Two things I think.

I think D'Addario is making Fender strings, at least the flats. Could not identify the strings on one of my AVRI basses. The strings on it were not the ones Fender thought were on it. I was eventually advised to check out the D'Addario flats. I believe those were what was on the bass, new from Fender. So I just feel that may have been the beginning of a relationship. Gut feeling, nothing more.

I think I do not know what the cause of the dust up in this thread was, but I hope it is successfully resolved.

Well, without even doing any research there is one fairly significant tell-tale indication that D'Addario is extremely likely to be the company now making Fender strings.
That is the coloured ball ends that exactly match D'Addario's colours.
Coloured ball ends are something Fender has never done for as long as I can remember.
I can remember a long way back.
The packaging also switched to D'Addario style at the same time the ball ends appeared.
Where they used to be in a card paper package with squared off corners and with each string in a separate paper envelope they now are packaged exactly like D'Addario strings.
Everywhere you go on the web to ask this question claim it is D'Addario.
Not that the internet is infallible or anything.
It might all be just a coincidence but it's probably not.

More importantly, for me at least, the manager at the local music store here in my little town, which is not an authorized Fender dealer but does carry D'Addario strings, had told me his supplier (also not Fender authorized) now carries Fender branded strings and he can bring them in if I want.

IIRC, it seems to me the question was asked of Fender right here on the forum back in 2010 or whenever it was that the string-change occurred and the answer was vague and non-commital.
Back then there were several Fender people regularly posting on these forums.

Maybe Brad will weigh in here.

Hi all,
thank you all for the answers...

from what we hear, it seems that Fender makes it produce its strings by D'Addario
it would be interesting to know what are the structural differences
between the strings Fender NPS 7250 and d'Addario EXL 165TP for example ...

if other people have the opportunity to share their thoughts
they do well ... all serves to enrich the post.

Andrea.
