When I was playing it the other day, and thought it was a more low, and mellow tone than the White Opal was. Excellent. The White Opal had a good tone, but not as smooth as this one does. Of course there was a difference in price too. Funny how I'm back to a Rosewood board, after having a bunch of Maple's. 8)

I have mostly rosewood board basses, but that's not exactly intentional, just happens to work out that way. Which means, mostly what was available with the budget I had at the time, and the best option for me. It also seems like there are more rosewood board basses that maple ones around for some reason. Especially, in the lower price ranges, or certain styles (i.e. hollowbody violin type.)

Rosewood boards do seem to be the more prevalent in availability.

Maybe, but I think the Rosewood does give a deeper tone. Depending on what type of amp it's being run through too. I can't complain about the tone from the Maple on the GL Jazzes either.

I've have noticed maple has often a brighter tone, if that's the right description for it.

That's about right on the Maple.
I acquired the White Opal back again today. It has a bit of a different tone with it's pups, and I just like it. I did put the Black Moto PG on it.

Yes I did. Just something about that Jazz that's different about it in sound, compared to the other two Jazzes. The pups put out volume like crazy. Pics tomorrow with the Black Moto PG on it.

That is a nice finish on that bass, especially with the matching headstock.

Thanks Paul. That's one reason I got it back. And, it just plays so nice. The MIM's are getting to be so well finished on their QC.
