Yeah, I think you're right about that.

They used to have a printed up card saying D'addario was the strings on it. Gibson did the same thing with the Cleartone strings.

I know Schecter actually has Ernie Ball strings mentioned with their specs, maybe Ibanez might do that on their site, as well. I haven't looked in a long time. Those Cleartone strings have that coating on them, so maybe that was the appeal for Gibson.

With Gibson, .............. Gibson doesn't know why Gibson, does anything. Strings are a mystery, for who uses what in most cases. Fender is border line on that too. What company manufactures who's strings.

That's corporations for you. :P I know Fender has their own strings, but someone else manufactures them. I've heard it was D'Addario, but I don't know if that's still the case.

When ever I spoke to D'addario, they said Fender's strings are not D'Addario strings.

I wonder who it is then? Is it possible they're doing it themselves? Somehow I doubt that, since they didn't before, but you never know with these things.

At one time they did make their own Fender strings.

I remember getting a set of Fender flats some 20 odd years ago and really liking them, but then I got another set years later and they didn't seem the same as those. Maybe it was me, though. Tastes can change drastically over time, especially from when you're in your early 20's and get into 30's or 40's.

I know exactly what you're saying. I can be more critical about some things, or less caring about others.

I haven't had a chance to play it as long as wanted too, but I did hear everything I was hoping to hear in a short time.
