I'm in the process of acquiring this White Opal, Spl. Edition Jazz to replace the Mustang PJ. The Mustang PJ sounded good, but the short scale wasn't doing for my playing. I liked it, but not enough to hang on to it.

Well, that answers my question over at the lounge forum. :P Nice find. I never seen a model like this one around. Where did you get it?

It's a MIM Fender Spl. Edition Jazz, I'm guessing a custom made for Sweetwater Sounds. Like the Spl. Edition's made for GC. Sweetwater is the only place I've seen it listed, or shown. The White Opal has a nice smooth look to it. The price is decent on it too.

AMS has had a few Fenders that were special edition, too. I guess all of the big wig companies get a deal like that. Pretty cool bass. Hopefully, it will play as nice as it looks. 8)

I'm up for it. I'm a Jazz bass player to the bone. I guess it's a waste of time, and money to go anything but a Jazz. From what I've seen GC seems to go with Spl. Edition style Precisions. I don't recall SA doing any Spl. Editions. Sweetwater has a series of Hofner custom '62 Reissues, made specifically for Sweetwater.

AMS has also special edition Fender guitar amps, like the blonde tolex or oxblood speaker grill, that sort of thing. I know there use to be one like that for the Super Bassman you have at one time or another. I've seen a few Hofners with custom finishes like red and purple. They looked pretty cool, I thought.

Guess what? I was just looking at the AMS site and found this: http://www.americanmusical.com/Item--i-FEN-0140501-LIST They have your bass there, as well.

That's the one. I never saw it anywhere else, until now.

I also noticed they had a Tele and Strat version of this, too.

Yeah, I saw that too. I bet the Tele is a drop dead nice one. I like Tele's. When Jimmy Page played one in the early Led Zeppelin days, great sounds.

It's always been one of my favorite guitars. I have a Squier version that has a humbucker in the neck pickup position. Nice guitar.

This bass deserves a set of black nylon tapewounds!

You usually put the original strings back on when you trade back in a bass, don't you?

If they fit, and they aren't damaged from a through body bass.
