I've had this bass for 3 weeks and for all practical purposes, I think it's the best bass Fender has ever made. I can't put mine down.

However, I'm wondering if anyone else thinks the shielding might be sub-standard. I'm getting little noises here and there, admittedly in somewhat hostile environments. Because of the noiseless pups, I'm thinking it's because the painted-on shielding isn't quite up to par. I hate to mention my Music Man Stingray 5, I dearly love that bass, too, but the Fender has replaced it as my #1 go-to bass. However, the Stingray is dead-quiet in the same environments. I even have an old CRT TV several feet from my practice desk and the Stingray doesn't pick it up. But the Fender does, slightly. Two things about that, I can turn 90 degrees to the right and the CRT noise goes away, and no, that thing shouldn't even be on while I practice anyway!

Just wondering if anyone has experienced this with their Elite bass. It's not a big deal, I have plenty of copper tape and I was able to make my 2000 MIM Jazz Five fretless bass 99% quiet with the shielding, so I know how to go about it.

As with anything awesome, there are a couple of nits to pick. But as I said earlier, I positively love this bass!

I really wish someone from fender would reply to this. I was playing an award show and the same thing happened to me at the venue. I had to constantly turn down after every song.
