Yeah, I'll bet. I can't wait until the day I finally get to play with our drummer and finally kick that Orange stack in the arse and see what that 18" Celestion can really do.

That should be a real kicker for sure. Image

Oh yeah, I can't wait for that one. That amp has been sitting dormant for far too long.

I sold the Am. Std. Jazz today. So, I have the USA Geddy Lee Jazz, the Spl. Edition White Opal Jazz, and the Mustang PJ. After I got home from selling the Am. Std., I played the USA GL, and reaffirmed to myself, I made the right choice by keeping the USA GL. Like i keep saying, it's one smooth playing Jazz. I like the Spl. Edition Jazz's sound more so than the Am. Std. Both the USA GL, and the Spl. Edition have a bit more of a deeper late 60's, to earlier 70's sound to them. Playing them through the 12's are decent too.

You didn't feel like it was worth holding on to the American Standard? You didn't play it that much?

That's about it too. I was kidding when I said the USA GL is the top MIA Bass I have. The Am. Std. has a nice mid range, but not as low as both the USA GL, or the Spl. Edition White Opal. Now with the Mustang PJ, that kinda' set it in motion.

Well, you got what you can practically use, instead of having 300 basses lined up everywhere. As fun as that might seem sometimes, a lot of that would probably realistically collect dust for the most part, and not even be touched other than the time you first acquired it. Even if you could do nothing but play all day long, every day, you still would have difficulty going trough all of that in a year, at least.

I'm pretty set with three basses. There are times when I remember only having one bass, and it didn't bother me in the least. I didn't have to make a choice for which bass to play.

That would simplify things a bit, that's for sure. Since I have a couple of different things going on, I'd like to have some options for what I'm playing. That psychedelic side project that's getting started, I'd like to have a bass that fits in that 60's, maybe early 70's vibe and sound, for the most part.

I could use my Schecter Jazz, and will if I have to, but to me, it doesn't have that vibe, even though it's a Jazz copy, if that makes any sense. It sounds more like a Music Man than a Fender, even though it's a passive bass. It's perfect for my main gig, but it's not something you'd have in your garage band in 1967, or around that period.

I know my amp is obviously too modern for that era, but not really in the aspect that it's an Orange and I do have an 18" Celestion with it, so it's not that bad of a compromise. I have to be realistic about that, anyhow. Even if I could afford one of those old amps, do I really want to haul a 50 year old amp and deal with potential maintenance issues? Besides, they weren't 1000 watts. I'd need quite a few of them to match that. :P

At least with a bass, I can get pretty close to feel of that and the sound to some degree, even if it isn't a vintage one, which is something I'd be lucky to afford, depending on what it is. They make modern instruments that copy those, so no worries there. Most likely, I'll probably be using my violin bass, when it's fixed, but I might be looking for something else to go with that.

You're Right On with the Schecter Jazz for that 60's sound. I personally think the Spl. Edition White Opal, (an MIM Standard Jazz fancied up), or the Geddy Lee's have that 60's to early 70's sound. More so than the Am. Std.'s with the CS60's pups. One of the reasons I opted to move the Am. Std. Jazz in favor of both the USA GL, and the Spl. Edition Jazzes. The MIM Standard Series Jazzes, do have a good sound.

I do also have my Squier Jazz, which I was noodling with last night, unplugged. I still have to get that jack looked at, because it had a short in it. That might be a good bass to use for that project, since it does have that 60's vibe to it.

That sounds like a good plan. I'd have that Jack out of there really quick.
