I think it does too.

3-color sunburst+tort PG is like peanut butter and jelly....they just go together! The black PG looks good too, but the white....not so much. That was something that irritated me when I looked at the new American Pro line of jazz basses for this year - no tortoise shell pick guard, but white! (And I don't like Fender killing the American Standard line either....we know they did it in search of more money).

My Fender Basses: '62 Jazz reissue (2012), Jaco P. Fretless Jazz (2012), Deluxe Jazz (2014), P-Bass (2015), Fretless Jazz (2016), and Jazz-V (2012). All are American Standard, 3-color sunburst w/tortoise shell guards, except the AM Deluxe, which is natural finish.

So what's your favorite Fender out of the bunch?

Hmmmm....tough call....I'd say the Deluxe and the Jaco Fretless Jazz, but the others all run very close behind!

I agree with the new Am. Pro Series PG's. I think it's a way to get players to spend the extra $40. to $60, to buy a replacement PG. I'm not crazy dropping the Am. Std. Series either. It was a convenient way to make the Am. Pro Series, and raise the price up $100. higher than the Am. Std.'s.

I think we were both using the same hammer on this one, JBlake59. 8)

I may have said this before, but I don't see enough changes between the Am. Std., and the Pro for a price hike of $100. Buckeroos. And not enough to drop the Am. Std.

That's my .02 cents on the Pro Series. Even if I were to purchase a Pro, I wouldn't sell off an Am. Std. in the process. My Am. Std. Jazz is right on.

I don't think it would be worth it, especially if you like the older model to begin with.

I'm very comfortable with the Medium Jumbo frets. The CS60's pups do fine as well. And in closing, Fender really did weenie out on the across the board Parchment PG's on all of the Pro Series.

The PG's, or the Pro series? I think the frets are higher, and thinner than the Medium Jumbo frets are on the Am. Std.'s.
