I just acquired a 3-Color Sunburst Jazz. It plays great, and the QC on it is right on. It's good to see that Fender is putting out Am. Std. Jazzes that are what they should be, a well made bass.

That's a nice looking bass. 8) I'd also love to get one in Lake Placid Blue or Candy Apple Red with the matching headstock, but of course $$$$. :P Either an original one from the 60's or Custom Shop job. Unfortunately, they don't seem to offer that option for the budget models, at least with the matching headstock.

Thanks Paul, those are two great colors Id like to see on Am. Std.'s. Well the Candy Apple Red was discontinued from Am. Std.'s. The matching headstock color is great on the Sherwood Green Metallic Adam Clayton Jazz. I'd like to see Blizzard Pearl Metallic back again, since they discontinued the Sage Green Metallic, that took the place of Blizzard Pearl Metallic in the first place. WHAT?

They have this color called Surf Pearl for the new Deluxe Active Jazz Bass and Deluxe Active Precision Bass:

http://shop.fender.com/en-US/electric-b ... xe&start=1

http://shop.fender.com/en-US/electric-b ... xe&start=1

That seems to look like along the range of those finishes, but of course the basses are active electronics, which I know you've mentioned you're not too big on. Who knows, maybe they might extend that finish to other models?

I'd like to see the Surf Pearl on an Am. Std. with a Maple Fretboard. Naahhh, I'd probably go back to an Olympic White, with a Maple Fretboard. The Surf Pearl does look intriguing. Image

Yeah, I'm wondering if it's some sort of blend between Surf Green and Blizzard Pearl?

I don't know, but that Surf Green does kinda' grow on ya'. Like I said before though, I'd like to see Blizzard Pearl Metallic offered again too. Ha Ha Ha, big chance of that happening.

Yeah, unless you find a used one or have one refinished to it.

That would probably be the way to do it.

I really like the white pickguard on yours!

I just bought an Olympic White Am Std Jazz, maple fingerboard also. I am really impressed with the quality of the bass, too. Actually, I'm blown away, especially considering the lower price with the sale going on now. This Jazz is just great in every way.

I ordered a white pearloid pickguard ("White Moto" I think it's called) to put on it, I'm not crazy about the tortoiseshell. I really like the look of your white, too - nice choice.

Congrats on your Am. Std. Jazz, a good choice for a Jazz bass. And thanks on liking the White PG. The White PG was just changed from a Black Moto PG. I like playing the Am. Std. Jazz basses, and I also took advantage of the instant rebate to order an Am. Std. Fretless Jazz.

The White PG doesn't look to bad. I definitely like it more than the standard Tort PG.
