I was buying a used Fender Jazzbass some while ago . The thing is that I can not find the serial number in Fenders database. I know and I have been told that it was bought in a Fender authorized dealer in Oslo Norway in 2010.

The serial number is 10009101

It will be nice if somebody can give me some information about this awesome bass.

Thank you :)

Try putting it in as, US10009101, and see what happens.

In this site http://www.guitardaterproject.org/fender.aspx it recognizes as US10009101 not without the US.
On Fendersupport knowledgebase it does not recognized anyway with or without US

US plus the serial number shows it's probably an Am. Std.Jazz, or an Am. Spl. Jazz. I'm not surprised about it not showing on the Fender Support. Can show any pics of it on here?

The thing with Fender instrument SERIAL databases online, including Fender's, is that they only reflect serials for instruments distributed in FMIC's territory which is North America. Since this was sold new in Norway the serial will not be found on the Fender site nor will it work on any online database such as guitardaterproject dot org.

Fender has always given export instruments unique serials to lock them out of FMIC's warranty support system. It is up to the international distributor to provide warranty and all other support on Fender instruments and other Fender items they import and sell. This includes serial number verification and other information regarding the serial such as manufacture date and the name of the dealer to whom it was shipped. You will need to go to the dealer in Oslo and get contact information for the Fender distributor there. Then call, write, fax or email the distributor.

Since it starts with 10 it is safe to presume it is a 2010. Since most international distributor's have warranties of one to five years and it has been six years there is no warranty left. Also international distributor warranties are never transferable anyway. I am not sure what the distributor's obligation is regarding how long they must maintain serial records.

One more thing. International distributors change frequently, so the distributor today may not have been the distributor in 2010 but they should be able to advise who it was then.

I think I`ll try to get in touch to the one that solgt me the bass :)

It seems like it is a lot of things to find out if the bass is legit or not. For my eyes and feel it is the real thing, I also have a mexican 60 years anniversary to compare with. What I dont understand is why does it find the mexican serial number even that one also was solgt in Norway :?:

Apparently only Fender USA instruments use a different serial format on export models. Since essentially all Fender MIM instruments are exported so they all use the same format. Same with Fender Japan.

While I understand the reason, perfectly, I still wish it were one database for all.
