Probably one to the other. I tried to look that up, but all I could find was the current gear he had with the SVT. He might have used that even right after the Marshall going back to the 60's.

I thought he was using the Marshalls in the early 70's. I don't remember now.

Loud was good back then with almost every band.

Yeah, I'd say so.

Does anyone on here know if there's a ltd edition of the USA Geddy which has a Black body, but has black blocks & binding as opposed to pearl?

I ask as there's a UK store advertising that they have just that - I'm thinking about purchasing but want to try and find out if it's legit.

I've seen stuff online abut the red ltd edition which had black blocks and binding, but couldn't find anything about a black bodied version...

It certainly all looks legit from the photographs..see what you think: -

I guess it's possible that it has the black blocks in place of the white pearloid. From the pics, it appears to be a US neck on it. Everything in the description, including the Fender product number shows the USA Geddy Lee Jazz, with the white pearloid blocks. I'd call Fender Customer Service, and ask them if it's a real USA Geddy Lee Jazz with a variation fretboard. I would want to see the Fender inspection head tag to check out the Product Number, and serial number.

Thanks for the reply - I already sent Fender an email, with the same link, asking the same question, but I've not had a reply yet. I'll wait and see what they say. I'll post up if I get a reply.

EDIT: You're right, it's second hand and of course there's every chance it's been modified. That's really what I'm trying to establish, if it came from the factory like that or not..

Please let us know what Fender replies back to you. It could be interesting. 8)

Here's the reply I got from Bryce Wells at Fender..

Hey Lewis,

This is definitely interesting! I have a few folks looking into it at the moment - I will report back with my findings.

Everything appears to be correct on it, though we never did a Special Run with the Black inlays/binding. Initial thoughts is that this may have been a factory error.

Hold tight and I'll see what we can find!

Cheers,

If it's a factory error, JUMP ON IT! Or just get while it's there, to be acquired. Take your chances.

That would be pretty cool to have it from the factory with the black blocks on.
