A lot of times when you see bands with a lot of amps on stage now some of them are props. I read a column from a roadie a few years ago that said "If you see a 98 pound roady lifting an SVT head with one hand it's a prop".

That's true. Especially, the whole wall of Marshall cabs thing. I think when Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers had those old Vox Super Beatle stacks on stage, they were actually props, and they had stuff like Fender amps hiding behind them.

That's true, even for today, with at least one amp you might see on stage as a back up. I've seen a lot of bands that have that. I suppose I would to, if I could. It's a smart idea, really.

We did it out of necessity. Any stacks on stage back then, weren't a prop. Today, I agree is a prop master's heaven.

Yeah, now the PA systems are a lot different, for sure.

I did know some of the bigger Roadies were able to handle Marshall 90-100 pound heads like toys.

They were probably used to it. I suppose if you do that long enough, you can, like anything else.

At one time I was benching 380, and squatting 505. That was way back when though.

I imagine when you were in the service, you got used to carrying around a lot of weight pretty quickly.

Yeah, especially in a harsh jungle environment. Talk about a weight loss program there.

That was before I did any weight liftings.

I imagine carrying all of that gear is like lifting weights.

Well, I suppose another difference is you didn't typically have people shooting at you when you were doing road work, too. :P

That could definitely be considered a plus.
