I can see what you mean. I've never even dealt with a 4 x 10" that big, that I remember. At least not with a bar on it to move it.

I did a lot when I was paid to move, and set them up. Age,.......... a lot younger.

Yeah, I imagine so. They certainly didn't make them lightweight back then, either.

It seemed like everything was heavy back then. I can't complain though. I was 20 plus back then, not 66 plus like today. But some that gear was the greatest sounding loud monsters ever made, on their own without PA's. Image

Paul, I think you would've liked seeing Blue Cheer Live. Dickie Peterson played a good Jazz Bass.

Oh yeah, I've watched some live videos with them, plus later concerts before he died. I imagine they were something to actually see live, in person. Loud as hell, I'm sure. 8)

Blue Cheer would definitely be a band to have on a must see band list. Loud wasn't a term used for Blue Cheer. Ultimate LOUD was!!!

Didn't they have to actually nail the drum set to the stage, so it wouldn't vibrate around, or was that some BS story?

Just about all of the bass drums were either anchored in place with nails, and wood blocks, or the special made bass drum anchors that attached to the front of the bass drum. They had spikes that dug themselves into the stage as the bass drum moved forward.

I didn't know about that. I know drummers would typical have their kits on some sort of carpet, I guess from sliding around.

Those attachable anchors worked pretty well on the front bottom of the bass drum. I custom made up an aluminum bar, or bars if the drummer was using dual bass drums, that attached to the drummer's throne to the bass drum. The weight of the drummer actually held the drum set in place with out any other anchors. It worked rather well, if I do say so myself.

Except sometimes you decided to prank the drummer and set up his kit so it would collapse and fall on his arse. :P I suppose you couldn't get away with those shenanigans, could you?
