I suppose one is just as useful as the other, you could say. :P

The GL played through the PF-500 / SVT-410HLF today. Today really nailed it. The 4003 did well, and today the GL did well also. It looks like I'm an Ampeg guy on a Fender web site. The SVT-410HLF is dynamite, and this little PF-500 is a great head for it.

That's good that this set up seems to be working for you, especially with the Ampeg. 8) If I can manage to wheel and deal, I might be able to pick up the 800 watt version of it, if possible. I think it would be ideal, even though I don't have the Ampeg cab to go with it. There's nothing wrong with my Fender cab, though. It pretty much has the same brand speakers in it, anyway.

A 500 - 600 watt is fine, as long as it has a headphones jack.

The Hartke TX600 I think has to be connected to a load. I read in the manual to have a load connected to it. So if that's the only feature I'm missing from the two amps, that's no problem. The TX600 is 600 watts @ 4 ohms, and 450 watts @ 8 ohms. That's not to bad. The SVT-410HLF peaks at 1,000, so it should be more than capable of handling the Hartke. The EQ on the Hartke seems to be more simple to set as well.

How's the volume on it? Have you cranked it up at all?

I use a lot of extra low bass, and at times playing in a small room it's easy to no realize how loud the volume is I'm playing at. Apparently I was set at such an upper bass tone, I didn't realize how loud it was. When I stopped playing, both my head, and ears were hurting. It really was loud. Excellent clean tones, that work well with a big 410 cab. As I would recommend the Hartke TX600. At $400. it's a damn killer head. Definitely quiet, and clean enough to do studio work as well.

To answer your question, it was loud. The sounds filled the room. I can't foresee any problems with the Hartke. Image

That sounds like a pretty good amp, then. 8)

I maybe going for a Hartke HyDrive HD210 cab to take the place of the SVT-410. I had to move it today, and it was way to tough to move around.

Too big for your needs then?

Unfortunately, yes. A Hartke HD210 cab would be more than ample, and easier to move around id needed.

Yeah, that cab seems to be a beast, from what you've told me, especially if you have to move it around a lot. It's certainly bigger than a lot of other 4 x 10" cabs around. The Fender I have is pretty compact, so that's not a big deal to me.

It's kind of a tip off how much of a beast it is when, they install 3" roller casters, and a pull bar in the back of the unit. Fine for stage, but not really intended for a house.
