The crimson flametop Jazz started life without a pickguard.

That's nice without a PG. Looking good. 8)

It does look cool in that finish, but I like the Fretboard on my USA better. I was able to play the USA GL for just over an hour today. It sounds GREAT through the Ampeg. A very smooth neck on it also. The action on it feels swell too. Some players don't like the Fender factory setup. It agrees with me fine.Image

I have to agree about the fretboard on yours. The black blocks are cool, but I'd also prefer the pearl (or whatever they are supposed to be) blocks, instead. I think it's because that reminds me of my old '77 Jazz. It had those.

To me, the Black Blocks are more ordinary.

Nice idea to swap pickguards.

Black pearloid looks pretty classy on black/maple neck combination. :P

So, is the Geddy Lee getting any play time, since you got another Jazz, or you're just digging into that one? I know what it's like when you get a new bass, you wind up ignoring everything else for awhile. :P

I just finished playing the Am. Pro., and was thinking tomorrow the GL get's the nod. I played Am. Pro. enough today to feel right in the groove with it.

That's cool. I'm sure there are some different tonal qualities between the two.

I didn't get a chance today to play either one. I do want to hear if there are any tonal differences between the two. I'm thinking the GL may have a bit lower bass tone. One thing that is incredible about the GL, that special neck on it. Image

Yeah, I know you've always liked the neck on that model.

That's true about liking the USA GL neck. If you ever get a chance to feel the neck on one, you may see what I mean about them. And I see you're sig. axes are back.

I've never had a chance to play on one, or even see one in person, but it's been years since I've walked into a music store. I've usually shopped online. That's good that you can see the pics. It looks like that Imgur works then. 8)
