No matter how hard we try not to, we always seem to come back to Fender in one way or another. :P I know I've had a tendency to do that.

Is this one a totally new one, or an old one you've managed to reclaim?

It's a new one. By now any of the GL's I've previously had, are long gone. I still have the Gibson SG Std. Walnut. In my case, I keep going back to Fender, and Gibson.

Or you have someone like the Ox, and combine the two, with the Fenderbird. You know, Thunderbirds are through neck, so either he did (or most likely, some luthier) had to chop the neck off of one, route out a neck pocket, and screw on a Fender neck to it. At least the budget Epiphone Thunderbirds are bolt on necked, so that would be easy to copy, if someone wanted to do that, maybe put in Gibson electronics, or whatever. I know, what in the hell does this have to do with a Geddy Lee Jazz Bass?!? :P It just reminded me of that when you mention going back between the both brands.

The Gibson, and Fender are the two brands I like. The SG Std., and the USA GL Jazz are my selections for having two basses. If I have more than two basses, it's a waste.

You have a point about being a waste with more than two instruments, especially if you're not actively gigging, or doing a lot of studio work. I have a total of 10, and barely even go through 3 of them at a time. To be fair, all of them were used extensively at one point or another, and some need repair to professional function.

I can get by with one, except I like the two I've narrowed it down to. Oh well, A Gibson, and a Fender.

I'm very comfortable with the Short, and the Long Scale I'm going to use. The GL will probably do a bit more play time though. It really is the Long Scale I feel the most at ease with playing.

You're liking the long scale better?

Cool. 8) I do have to say about my Squier Jazz (I imagine the other Jazz Basses aren't any or much different,) it does have the closest feel to the short scale neck of the violin bass, anyhow. Although, that Hagstrom bass had even a thinner neck than the Jazz. I don't remember if that was a short scale or not. I'm thinking it wasn't, though.

For me, I don't keep track of the scale sizes anymore. I know the basic ones, and that's a bout it. I do appreciate the feel of a Jazz though.

I can safely say in a Fender, the Jazz is a fit I can live with, at 1.50" at the nut. Image

The Crimson Transparent flametop "Rush" Jazz Bass would look cool with a 3-ply black guard contrasting the black binding and blocks. Too bad, it was limited to 100 pieces.

Yes, I was surprised that Fender did do that low of a limited 100 run. The Black PG would look fine on it.
