Cool bass. 8) Of course, the black nylon strings must go on right away. :P You ever play with the stock strings, or do you change them right away?

I played the first one with the factory strings for a bit, and then changed out with the nylons. I changed this one strings out as soon as I got it home. If the Nylons don't make it, I'll put a set of Flats on it. But I don't think the sound will be to much different, or any different than the previous USA GL.

Speaking of changing out strings, when I got my Schecter Jazz, I pretty much changed it to the Rotosound flats as soon as I got them in the mail. The stock strings were Ernie Ball rounds, which weren't bad (I put them on the Ibanez bass, since the strings on it were ancient, but unfortunately, because of how the E string tuner is positioned on there-like where the A string would be on a Fender-type headstock-I could only wrap it around barely once.) I've been seriously contemplating going back to rounds, maybe I'll do that with the Ibanez, after I get that short fixed, of course. I'm not sure if I want to have rounds on the Schecter yet, or not.

I take it you'll be putting this bass through it's paces in the next few days to make sure you want to keep it. It's a nice looking bass, none the less. 8)

Thanks, I like this one better than the first one. It plays better than the first, and the Nylons are really going good through the Bassman amps.

Like I maybe have mentioned before, for me, if I wasn't going to use Nylons, Flats would be the string of choice. Yeah, the position of the tuners from one bass to another can mess things up.

So this one you like better than the first one? That's pretty good, then. 8) You ever try those coated strings, like Elixers?

No I haven't. Do you know off hand, what the gauges of them are?

Here's the page for their nickel plated strings. I'm sure the stainless steel are the same gauges. http://www.elixirstrings.com/guitar-str ... rings.html

Interesting. They have a pretty standard mid range gauge size per set.

I think with strings sometimes, it comes down to the type a player is comfortable with, brand, etc. They may not sound, or feel great to others, but he likes them. That's like me with my Nylon ETB92's. I like them.

It really is. I've pretty much stopped mentioning the Nylons I use. If someone wants to try them, fine. If they don't that's fine too. I use them, and like them.

Plus, if you didn't, you'd might have to change your name on here. :P
