I actually paid $720. for it. The regular GC price is $899. They just sent me a flyer showing the sale price at $749. I'd say I did okie dokie on it alright! Not only was it $20. less than the sale price, but mine was new out of the carton to me, not from the wall to me. It's great! Image

I think it's a pretty good deal too, especially when I consider it to be one of my more favorite basses I've ever had. Pretty damn cool! Image Image

Yeah, and they only made so many of them, so maybe it might be something of value in the future.

That could be. I like leaving it stock, other than the strings, and I have the strings tucked away.

Yeah, strings are probably considered disposable to the instrument, anyway. Maybe if they are some rare kind that they don't make anymore, they might have some value. Who knows?

Who knows what may be of any real value later on. I may have had one, two that could be worth a bit more someday. The Spl. Edition Am. Std. PJ may have been one. But, I still contend I like the Spl. Edition Deluxe PJ Precision more than that Am. Std. PJ.

Did the American Standard PJ have a Jazz or P Bass neck on it?

It had an Am. Std. Jazz neck on it. For some reason the CS60's pups seemed a bit dull. The pups on Spl. Ed. Dlx. PJ Precision do sound better. Better low tones, and just a livelier overall sound.

It also has the maple fretboard that you like, which the American Standard did not, did it?

The Am. Std. had a Rosewood Fretboard. That's a big plus I forgot about. I do like the Maple boards.

That would make sense. I suppose if it came in a maple board, that might be a different story, although you've said you like the pickups on this one better.

The Maple would've been pretty a tough one to pass up. But still the sound wasn't there. I don't know how I would've gone with that one with a Maple Board. No matter. I'm fine with this PJ as is.

I'm happy as a little kid playing it. Well worth it. Like I've said before, the Sea Foam Metallic goes great with the Maple Board too.
