It sure doesn't sound too shabby through the 2X12 cab either. The 12' weren't the only reason I went with the Ampeg SVT-212AV. I still like one 4 ohm cab, giving me the full power with just one cab, instead of using two cabs for the same results. Just me though. Image

Well, it does keep things on the compact side, especially if you don't care for, or have need for the visual aspect of some giant stack.

I'm about the only one who'll even see the half stack I have. It's doing great. I did some adjustments on the Overdrive Channel today, and the 500 Overdrive Channel seems to have more response with the 2X12 cab, than the 115 Neo cab. Greater balance as well.

I suppose the 12"s size difference must factor into that.

I agree, I would think the size difference of the 12" is direct factor. I appreciate the 12's mid size to the 10's, and 15's. They can take a bit more abuse, and still have a punch with a good low tone.

In some ways, I think the 12"s are like the Goldilocks speaker size. It's between the 10"s and 15"s, but has the characteristics of both, and especially good with at least two or more together, I think.

Agreed! The PJ Precision played really smooth through it. I'm not missing the 15" Neo with either the Jazz, or the Precision. The Bassman 500 is super-fine!

You know, sometimes you just have to try different combinations of stuff to find the right mixture for your sound. I went back to a Precision after a few years of playing other basses, and just realised it does work for me, when I thought it wouldn't. It does have an additional Jazz pickup on it, so that might be what makes it work for me. I haven't had a single P Bass pickup bass in 15 years, the last one being some Ibanez bass, and not a Fender. The last Fender P Bass I had was in the mid 90's, which was that 50's Reissue.

The Jazz I have is a Jazz, but the PJ, is a bit different with the Jazz pup as you said for yours as well. The Jazz neck on my PJ is what gets me cranking on this Precision. You are so right about trying different combinations. Like I said when I acquired this Sea Foam Pearl, I do like it over the Am. Std. PJ I had. The Sea Foam Pearl finish, the pups, and the Maple Fretboard are so great, I think anyway. 8)

I think the Precision you have has a lot of the features that you seem to like in a bass, or that's my observation, anyhow.

I agree with you totally. I played it more today , and it's a very smooth player that fits me fine. A Precision with a Jazz neck, very cool. I'm very lucky to have gotten this one.

I know what you mean, I feel the same way about my Precision, as well. 8)

I'd have to say, my favorite Precision I've ever had.

Maybe you finally found the right one. I'd say the price wasn't too shabby for it, either, since it was under $1000. 8)
