I always liked the Twin, and Super Reverbs. The oldies.

Yeah, those are good workhorse amps. If I could afford either of those, I'd definitely have them.

I didn't care what lead guitar was being played through either one of those, they had a sound that was amazing to the ears. 8)
That's how I feel about the USA GL Jazz. Any amp I played one through, sounded good to me anyway .

How's it going with your bunch? Are you beginning to have a favorite one to play, more than the others?

Good question. I've been playing the Precision, Jazz, and violin basses more or less equally, although the Jazz does need that jack repair, so I can't rely on it until I can get it done. Basically, it's a toss up between the Precision and the violin bass, right now, for professional use. I think that depends also on whether I want that hollow-body sound or not, with the thumpy flatwounds. You know, like the early Beatles, Animals, or things like that.

Good point on the Flats sound.

Yeah, which also makes me want to finally break down and get flats for the Precision Bass. :P

Like I say too, If not Nylons, Flats do a great sound.

I've also thought about trying those out, but I think if I do, it would be on a secondary instrument that isn't my main one to see how I'd like them. The reason I'm apprehensive is they are pretty thick strings, and I like light gauge ones. They do sound really good from what I've heard, though.

At least the ETB92 Nylons I use are a medium string. (.50, .65, .85, .105) They fit in most standard cut nuts with no problem. Image

Isn't most of the thickness just the wrapping to begin with? Do they bend OK, or are they quite stiff? That was the problem I had with the heavier gauge Rotosound flats. They didn't have a lot of give to them and I had to work harder with them, so I went with a lighter gauge and it was much easier to deal with. One time, I put really heavy gauge flats on an Ibanez bass that I had in Florida, and it wound up warping the neck on it. It straightened back out after I switched them out, though.

To me they don't feel stiff. I don't press hard on my Nylons, and the bending is going to vary upon the playing style. Warping of the neck hasn't been a issue I've had with the Nylons. That may be a problem with basses that may have a weaker neck, and or adjustment rods. D'Addario strings are usually some of the easier strings on a basses neck from what I've heard from other players. Different brands of strings are known to be somewhat unfriendly to Fretboards, and necks anyway. Rotosound's seem to top the list, but I never used them on any of my basses. D'Addario gives their string's tensions on their site.

I did notice the gauge was a lot lighter with the D'Addario Nylons, compared to the Rotosound version. Rotosound did say the actual gauge of those strings were .105 to .45 underneath the wrapping, though.

The only thing I can say is, I use the D'Addario's and they play fine for me on anything I string them on.
