I'll bet they were. The Japanese Fender stuff was usually pretty decent stuff. I can vouch for a few things, at least.

That was what I was always told about the Japanese Fenders as well.

You ever have any Japanese Fenders?

No, I never did. I always heard how well they were made though. The Crafted In Japan, was supposedly a bit higher quality than the Made In Japan. That's what I always heard anyway.

I didn't know about that. I always thought they just changed the description. I've seen some Japanese Fenders for sale on eBay a couple of years ago, which had a decent price for them, but of course the shipping was up there for them.

Guitar, and bass shipping cartons probably fall into the category of "oversize". That happens when a carton is fairly light, but has a larger sized measurement. I forget the measurements that constitute an oversize carton. They charge extra for oversize cartons, because they take up more space in the truck, or container they're shipped in. I think it's just another way to get more money.

You're probably right on that one. The boxes I got from Reverb.com are frigging huge, but they are universal for guitars, basses, and keyboards. The boxes I got from the Squier are a little smaller, that's why I'm using those. That, and they are already assembled, and I don't have to mess with breaking it down and throwing it out in the recycle bin. Well, that is if someone actually buys the damned thing.

With my purchasing from Sweetwater on a some basses, the factory bass carton, is packed in another carton. Pretty well packed with bubble wrap. Once I unpack, and make sure everything is ok, I cut up the cartons for recycle also.

I suppose another purpose those boxes I bought would be that I could use them for packing my basses or guitars, if I moved, and still didn't have cases, or enough cases. You use boxes for moving, anyway, so that makes sense.

The cartons would work fine for moving guitars, or basses.

I did the tracking this morning, and the bass is on the truck for delivery. So maybe around 10:30, it should show up for pick up at the local FedEx store. Image

It showed up at 10:15. I got it, brought it home, and unpacked it. It looks, and plays good.
