You know, that reminds me that getting a cable tester would be a good idea. I got a bunch of cables and who knows how many of them even still work., other than plugging them into an amp. You ever use one of those?

No I haven't. I just plug them in, and do a test that way.

I may have to give a slight edge to the USA Geddy Lee over the Am. Std. going through the Markbass. i played it today, and it felt like it was playing itself. Beautiful deep, low, clean bass tone.

You think it sounds better through that amp?

Yes I really do. The tube setting on the Markbass is that good. Actually, I'm thoroughly liking the performance of all three Jazzes through the Markbass. The 500 watts through the two 12's is right on. There may be something to using two smaller cabs with a 12 in each, as compared to one cab with two 12's in it. The VLE (Vintage Loudspeaker Emulator) has a good control of a tube sound. It works well. The preamp in it is SS.
I don't think there are too many amps the USA Geddy Lee Jazz wouldn't sound good through anyway. Just my opinion anyway.

Yeah, that does seem like a well put together bass. 8)

It's not cheap for sure. It has a real sticker shock quality to it. And like you say, it's a well put together bass. I never thought I'd like a Jazz neck that's as thick as that one is, but I do like it.

What's the difference between the Jazz necks?

The width at the nut is the same, as it is down to the base of the neck. It's actually thicker from the surface of the fretboard, to the crown of the back of the neck. The USA Geddy Lee Jazz's back of the neck, on the crown, is also hand rubbed so it's bit flatter, smoother, and more like the shape of the 4003 Rickenbacker, but not as flat as on the crown of a 4003.

I remember you talking about that, before. The neck on his had some Rickenbacker similarities? That would make sense if so, he used a Ric for years, besides a Jazz.

It's for me, the best of both Basses. The Ric 4003 sometimes feels like it goes to far on the flat crown. So the rubbed down USA Geddy Jazz is a great compromise. like I've said before, I think Fender did it right on the USA GL Jazz.

Would you say that's your all time top pick for a Jazz?

As much as I like the other two Jazzes, yep. This one particular USA GL is the all time top pick of a Jazz I'm hanging with.

This USA GL, and the Am. Std. are in the Groove. The Spl. Edition is a playing fool too. I was able to play the Spl. Edition again today. Good sounds too.
