The USA GL is the top Jazz for me. The Maple board, and pups sound great. It kicked the Am. Std. Olympic White Maple Jazz.

I like the neck on it. It's like the one that was on the '77 Jazz I had, which I posted the pics of. I'm glad my sister found those and mailed them to me.

Yeah, I'm starting to get GAS for another Jazz, now. :P At least I do have two Jazzes, albeit copies of a Fender. The Schecter is wired differently with the pickups, though. They sound like a humbucker to me, but it does have that pull-push thing on the tone knob. Maybe if I pull that it changes the wiring to be like two single coils, like the Jazz, and with it in, wired together as a humbucker. I should actually sit down and mess around with that, but I never really have. I just played it as is, but then I've been playing other basses in the mean time.

Image I'm laughing because you sound like me, GASING for a Jazz. I always keep coming back to a Jazz. So I've just come back again to a Jazz. Image

I do have some bad news, my Squier Jazz crapped out last night. :( It was going through the Fender and it shorted out. It wasn't the cables, because the violin bass was working without issue with the same amp and cables. I don't know what the hell happened there. I had it for three years, but it hasn't been played through an amp extensively at all, nor even left the house. If anything, it's been sitting a lot. Well, that's another one I have to get fixed, I guess. I could try getting some contact cleaner and see if that does anything. It went totally dead, though, not just crackle and pop.

When it rains, it pours. Sorry to hear about the Jazz.

Yeah, it's a friggin' bummer. I was really getting into playing that bass, too. The strings were broken in and everything. It probably won't be an expensive fix, as long as the pickups aren't fried, which I can't see how that would be possible. Maybe even some contact cleaner in the jack might even help. I'll at least try that at first. If not, then I guess I'll put it in the pile with the other basses that need repair, which have also had the same issue, although not as bad.

Yeah, it is. It was working fine, before. Didn't even crackle the last time I did plug it in. I'll try to get it fixed, though.

I don't remember any electrics doing that. Just not working after sitting. Unless they were knocked around a bit, etc.

Well, it did slide off the couch where it had been sitting briefly and bounce on the floor, which is carpeted. It didn't fall far or hit that hard (no dings or anything,) so it's possible that could have done something to it. It did hit on the back end, though. The strange thing about that is I've had basses drop before and not have nothing done other than maybe detune a tuner or two. Since you mentioned that, I just happened to remember this happened. It was a couple of days before we plugged it in, too.

Some parts aren't as strong as other parts are. Fender doesn't use the same jacks in all basses for instance. From what I saw in the past on the road, I would have preferred your Jazz hit almost another way than what you described toward it's tail on contact. It's a hard blow to the tail, the shakes the internal parts up.

That would make sense. I'll have to check that out.

Unfortunately, some parts have been suspect of being a bit on the weak side. Jacks do seem to be a problem with a good number of electric parts. I don't know about Fender/Squier jacks, but Gibson had jack problems, enough to change to a different brand in the 2015 series basses.
