Yeah, probably not the wisest moves. Those basses are usually worth close to $2000 these days. :P

Here today, gone today. That would've been a nice one to have had.

I payed only $450 for it, but that was in 1989, maybe 1990 at the latest. Played that thing through some Peavey amps. I only traded it a few years later because I got a Kawai FIIB (Alembic copy) bass and liked it a lot more. I know that's sacrilegious around these parts, though. :P You know, sometimes your tastes change and sometimes they come back again. If I could, I would have both of those basses still. They are totally different instruments. It would be just a matter of deciding what to play on what.

I know what you're saying about tastes changing, and coming back again.

Arjay

+1

Only the crimson red Jazz with the flamed maple top does have black tuxedo stylings.

That's a pretty cool finish on that one as well, I think. 8)

I'm doing good with the USA Geddy Lee, playing through the Bassman gear. It has great power, and a clear tone to it. I don't miss the Am. Std. Jazz at all.

Would you even say it was a better bass then that one?

I wouldn't say better, different yes. The pups on my GL do have a bit of a lower tone to them, as compared to the Am. Std. I had. The necks are fairly similar. The amp you run an Am. Std., or a GL through, I believe is going to dictate it's basic sound also.

That's true. That can factor all of that in it.

The GL pups do seem to match up with SB tube head pretty well.

The Geddy Lee sounds great through the tube head. 70's Type bass, playing through tubes.

If it makes you want to grow mutton chop sideburns, put on bell bottoms, and get in the van, then you know you've nailed that sound. :P

I'll have the replacement USA Geddy Lee Jazz shipped out Monday, and I should be able to pick it up Tuesday. :D
