I posted about my '74 Precision Bass here: http://forums.fender.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=100323

So I guess this is the place to talk about Jazz Basses. I purchased my Vintage '62 reissue in 1988 from Thoroughbred Music in Tampa. At the time, my main bass was a '77 Jazz Bass in Walnut (I wish I had kept it) and I wanted a second one since I was a full time musician and needed a solid backup. The '62 soon became my #1 bass and has remained so ever since.

The color is Lake Placid Blue which has darkened and turned a bit green over the years. It looks sharp with the chrome covers which I never leave on:

Several years ago, the bass fell over in a dressing room and the headstock was cracked between the nut and E string tuner. The bass didn't even go out of tune when it happened, but I had a repairman fix the crack by countersinking a screw through the tuner hole, gluing the crack, and smoothing out the lacquer. It's a bit ugly, but a very solid repair:

One odd thing about the bass is the decal. The original one got damaged and Fender sent me a replacement which I applied and then oversprayed with some clear lacquer. Years later I noticed the "OFFEST Contour Body" decal actually read "ORIGINAL Contoured Body". Somehow they sent me part of a Stratocaster decal by mistake:

Now music is a part-time job for me and the majority of my gigs are on upright bass, but I still choose the '62 Jazz Bass for the occasional electric bass gig.

I've enjoyed reading about other Fender basses on this forum and I look forward seeing more and hearing the stories behind them as well.

I like the color as it appears in the case photo. Every time I see that color I think about someone on this forum that had a Steve Harris bass and put a chrome pg on it. I have always wanted to do that, but never had the proper colored bass. Picture that bass, case photo, with a chrome pg on it. Holy Bling!

I think the Steve Harris bass comes stock with a mirrored pickguard since Mr. Harris has one on his bass. I have considered a pearloid pickguard for my bass but stuck with the traditional aged white/mint green.
