I have a 2011 MIM J 4 string that I changed the strings out on the other day and noticed that I have some pretty bad digging on the E and A strings at the first 3 frets. We're talking digs that show the round-wound from the strings. Is this normal? I have owned several Fender basses (Squire included) with rosewood fretboards and have never had this issue. What to do?

What type of strings do you use?

It's digging into the wood itself? Never had that happen with fretted basses, myself. I know fretless can be problematic if you use round wound strings on it.
