Very cool. 8) I like Gallien Krueger quite a lot. If I had the cash, I'd seriously consider either the 1001 RB, or maybe one of those MB or Fusion models. I've used a couple of 800 RB heads, and an MB 150S/122 combo in the past, but never owned any, unfortunately.

I liked the GK Fusion head I had. I probably would've hung on to it, if I didn't go for a monster tube head, at that time. The TC Electronic RH450 was another kicker head.

At this point, I probably wouldn't mind one of those, myself. I was jamming on the bass through the Ampeg the other day, with my girlfriend on the Roland drums, but we were playing at a lower volume, since it was later into the night, and I wasn't too happy with the tone I was getting. It could have been because I had the bass turned down by the volume knobs on the bass itself, instead of the amp, and maybe that bass itself isn't so great for that. I don't know, maybe I shouldn't worry about that too much, since I wasn't exactly fine tuning my settings. Besides, I can't afford a GK, anyway. I couldn't probably get enough cash to get one, even if I could sell the Ampeg. I do like the cleaner tones I've heard from a GK, but like I said, I can't afford one, so I'll have to make do. At least I have a better tone to work with than I did with the Orange, I suppose.

By the way, it's good to see you back on here. I take it you managed to get that worked out then?

I still had to do the caption thing to get on here this morning, but I guess oh well.

I think if I were able to do any gear changes today, which like you, I don't have the resources either, I would go with Fender. Half Stack, whatever. They seem to have everything in an amp needed in the long run. And, they work. The Rumble 100 has proven to have a decent volume, and a great deep bass tone. I'm still a proponent of it being in the middle of the Rumble Series Combos. Image

Fender would be my secondary, or at least the more financially realistic option, since that Rumble 800 head is probably at least $200 cheaper than a GK equivalent, and you can get really clean tones out of either, which at least I've heard in the various demos for those brands. Of course, the issue I was having could have been bass related, as well. I didn't have the volume controls opened on it, and it was at a lower volume, which can effect the tone. Sometimes, things sound better louder, especially for a bigger amp, unless you really tweak stuff.

I always like setting the amp volume up, and then adjust as needed the bass to the amp. Just me though.

Yeah, normally I like to have my bass controls wide open, but it was easier for me to adjust the volume the way I did, than try to tweak the amp. The problem I was having, as far as the tone I wasn't too happy with, was it was a muddy mid range tone. That's probably the best way I can describe it. I'd prefer a cleaner tone, if possible, but it could have been what was going on at that time. Sometimes, you can sound good one day, and crap the next, and you might not have even done anything to change anything.

I like things being as consistent as possible. Just me.

Yeah, I can see why you would. That's always a good thing when you're trying to work with something.

That's not just me getting old, or anything like that. I've always been that way. A real Pain to most folks that don't go that way I guess.

Well, consistency isn't a bad thing, especially if it works really well. Like that saying goes, don't fix what ain't broke, and all of that.

How true that is about let it be. I try not to look for trouble, if it's not there in the first place.
