I just noticed there's a tweeter in your amp. Do you have it switched on, or is that even an option?

It's not an option to turn off, but it can be overridden. The NY121 cab has an attenuator on it, that I have turned off.

I often have the tweeter shut off for the Fender Rumble combo, and the Rumble 4 x 10" cab, but sometimes I do have it on, as well. It depends, I guess. I've often ran it when I played with the violin bass, since it seems to play well with it on. I may or may not run it with the Ibanez Talman, especially if I have to play at louder volumes. That will be a wait and see situation, since the pickups on the Ibanez are hotter, and that might be too much high end if I have it cranked. I haven't done that yet, because I haven't been in any rehearsal situations yet, which I do wind up playing louder than I typically do at home, by myself.

I really don't need it, but it's there.

I like having the external cab again. It takes the stress off of the combos single 1X12 that way. Along with raising it up to the 4 ohms.

My NY121 cab has the attenuator on the right side of it. But the Mini CMD 121P, hasn't an attenuator.

I run my tweeter at about noon. I'm impressed by the evenness of the tone. Playing the 6 from the low B up into guitar range it's not like the B string is huge and the high end disappears or the high end is clear with no presence in the low range. The B string just sounds like another string.

I feel like I have the Markbass tuned pretty well to my playing through it. Now It's just a matter of tuning each bass' controls, for which ever is being played at that time.

I only play Fender Bass Amplification. I never play anything less. Nothing exists that is more. Fender. Only Fender.

You know, if I didn't know any better, I'd swear that man likes those Fenders? Was it? I don't know.

Yeah the super hyped B string is not my thing. I actually like the focus of the single 12. Plus my place is tiny so anything more takes up a lot of precious space.

It's been many years, but the last time I even tried to mess with a 5-string, I wasn't keen with the sound of the B string on it. Of course, it was a Gibson bass from probably the mid 80's, and the strings on it might have been pretty old, and I was playing through a Carvin 15" speaker cab, which isn't the top of the line for sound, at least for what I've played through in comparison.

Yeah, there's so many variables to deal with from scale length, to electronics, to strings, to frequency response etc. With a 6 it's even more complex since you're essentially dealing with the lowest 4 octaves of a piano. A classic amp really wouldn't do it justice unless you're running something biamped like a GK 800RB. At one point I was thinking about pulling a Stanley Clarke/Dug Pinnick and running into both a bass amp and a guitar amp and letting the frequency response act as a crossover.

John Paul Jones does, or did the same thing, when he had an SWR SM900 bass rig, and a Bad Cat or Fender guitar rig for his various solo stuff. He uses 8, 10, and 12 string basses, which has the octave strings. I also do believe Chris Squire did that, as well. An Ampeg SVT and Marshall stack. What kind of setup did you think about trying with that?
