You want to know something strange, as soon as you got the Ampeg head, I was thinking about that cab, like you were probably going to wind up with it again. For some reason, they seem to go together, like a match. Maybe that's because they pretty much came out at the same time, and were advertised together.

It wasn't till I looked at the price of the Bassman 800, and the V-4B, and realized for the same price I could get the tube head. The same thing happened with two cabs, exact same price for either one. I like the low tones of 12's, and at least the SVT-212AV is a bit more of a clear low tone, as compared to the SVT-410HLF cab.

Well, you also started out with 12"s, so I imagine that they probably have a special place with you, as well. I can certainly see the appeal of them, especially with that particular Ampeg head. It also seems like they do just go together, when you stack them up.

Yeah,..... for me 12's, and tubes kinda' go together. I do like a 2X12 cab, powered by a tube head. 12's I think are a very misunderstood speaker in bass amps. My thought on them, they're the perfect mix between the 10', and the 15's. They seem to have a better overall tone-all range to them. Depending the configuration of the speaker, and cab, the 12" itself, It can take more of a beating than 10's. I think the newer 12" cab designs enhance the 12's better than the older 2X12 Bassman cabs.

I always thought those 4 x 12" cabs for bass would be a powerhouse, more so than a 4 x 10" cab. I saw an old Peavey one for sale, but it had only one speaker in it, and who knows what shape that was in. Still, if you wanted to throw in some new 12"s into it, there you go. It would probably be heavy as $@!&, since those Peavey cabs generally were, and justify the cost of 4 12" bass speakers, compared to what an intact cab would cost, if you can find one of whatever brand. I think the Peavey cab itself was pretty cheap, though.

A 412 cab is going to be heavier than a 410 cab. Bigger speakers, magnets.

Yeah, I'm sure of that, but that's one hell of a sound. I doubt I'd ever get my hands on one, though. They aren't exactly common place, and typically cheap enough in the first place. It would be cool, though.

You know, you sound like you could almost talk yourself into a 412 cab. At one time, they were the cream of the crop in some of the most famous Marshall cabs. Maybe it's a waste, or overkill for me putting together this particular Ampeg setup, but it's just so me.

Realistically speaking, unless I come into some extra money, I don't see myself getting one of those, if one even pops up, since selling cabs can be a pain in the arse. Then again, I didn't imagine myself exactly getting an Ampeg amp, and it happened, so who knows? Those things can happen. I don't even know who makes them these days. There used to be a few companies, but that was years ago. I'd have to do some research. I haven't noticed too many showing up on the used market, either.

I don't have a clue about 412 cabs either. I guess the obvious, Marshall.

I think the last one Marshall made was for the Lemmy Kilmister signature amp. He had a 4 x 12" and a 4 x 15" cabs. I imagine a 4 x 15" cab is quite a beast, too. I've seen a few different versions of those, as well.

Wow, those 8 x 10" cabs look puny in comparison.
