I didn't see a price but it appears and the seller wisely held on to the original parts that he replaced.A fair retail price for a 66 Mustang is in the $1,650-$1,750 price range-with original case.

Suspect. Because it is TOO nice. !966 is 44 years ago..and the neck heel and truss rod adjuster look like it was made yesterday?

The ad indicates neck and pot codes ..but why no pictures to verify and authenticate?

Still has original pots? well then why not post a pic...that is a KEY selling point and a way to authenticate.

As well..why is there not a price?

I can not say for sure if this is the real deal or not based on the ad..only that it is suspect.

Cash only I can understand..but why only email. What is wrong with a phone number if the deal is legit?

Just my opinion. Bear in mind this is CL and not eBay. No feedback, no comments...you know nothing about this sellers track record..nor how to authenticate this ax by what is posted and pictured. My sixth sense tells me this is waiting for a sucker..any doubt = pass in my book..or to make sure you can inspect and properly authenticate the "original parts" as well as see this ax disassembled before purchasing.

I'm not up on all the vintage stuff, but if its original just thought someone might like it.

I like it and so would anyone who is a vintage Fender person. But it's authenticity is suspect IMO. However, the ax is in Buffalo NY, if the ax was here in LA I would "email" the seller and ask a few questions, then check it out in person bringing tools to dissasemble it, and see if the original parts are actually original.

If this one is original and really has the original parts...if they are as clean as the the rest this one is exceptional and could should bring more then an average price. But any doubts and it's value drops substantially.

Unless this seller is a scammer or an idiot...a 66 neck alone from that year and condition could bring almost 900.

But on occasion, these deals do pop up and are legit..sometimes location makes a difference if a seller does not want to deal with ebay or shipping.

It is actually a really nice guitar...but still I remain skeptical as to it's authenticity. Seems too "museum" quality to just be thrown on CL like that..but who knows?

Since I know what a 65 Mustang looks like-having owned one for 30+ yrs I must say that the 66 looks pretty legit and in super condition, for $900 you can hardly go wrong.

I agree. The markings and Fiesta Red color look period correct to me

I can't wait to get my first guitar...

I would agree, if that beauty is legit...anyone would be crazy not to snatch it up for 9 bills. A reissue mustang lists over 900.

Mine said $800 and I refreshed it, now it says $1000. So he would probably take $800.
