Looks like you already know what you want. I have a BOSS DS-1 and I like it just fine. 8)

try a marshall pedal if you can get a hold of one , theres the jackhammer , bluesbreaker and guvner , i like the bluesbreaker as it has a boost section , it keeps your tone and you only have control of the volume , great for playing through my jcm800 :)
the jackhammer is a bit of a beast , plenty of variations in tone and odand the distortion modes , as well as vol , gain , bass and treble you also have knobs for freq and contour ,
hth

Like my esteemed colleague from over the pond I heartily recommend Marshall pedals.I picked up a used metal bodied Guv'nor for $60 and I can't say enough good about it,it's like having a 1lb Marshall stack,it's that good. The plastic jobbies aren't quite as good but still are excellent pedals.

I liked the original bluesbreakers but they were somewhat limited in the drive department.

The digitech badmonkey covers a lot of ground for not much money. I swear by mine. I got the MXR zack mild and despise the noisy rubbish thing. I use it as a doorstop.

You seem to have it narrowed down , just go in and let your ears be your guide.

EMMA ReezaFRAzitz...one of the best there is.
Fulltone GT-500: combination Booster/OD and Distortion.

Make sure to try them with your amp. Overdrive pedals can sound VERY different with different amps (especially tube vs solid state).
