I have a black Squier II Strat E974674 made in Korea with a maple neck made by Young Chang in 1989, a maple neck Tele Affinity CY07124821 made by Yako (Taiwan) in 2007, and a Jagmaster CY07068454 also made by Yako in 2007. I also have a Peavey Raptor 1 International series Strat and a Samick HJ-650 hollow body jazz guitar I purchased around 1994. My preference for feel and sound right now is the Tele.

I have a Fender guitar that I am trying to put a value on for my father-in-law who is now in assisted living. The serial number is 9 digits. So far I have learned that the first two digits may be the year. It is made in Indonesia. S/N IC 041029003. What can you tell me about it.[/b]

It was made in Indonesia by Cor-Tek (Cort) in 2004. I don't know much about valuation, but if it feels and sounds good, play it!

Unfortunately, the Jag and Samick jazz box were trade bait so I could purchase a Mustang bass for an upcoming oldies group project. I plug the Affinity Tele into a Sunn Concert Lead with matching 4-12 cab and the sound on the bridge pup is phenomenal. The selector switch needs a better quality one, will probably check out Guitarfetish for parts.

Guitar shops will give you next to nothing for trades, I would suggest selling privately or one of the many online "rummage sale" sites.

Seboam,

According to your serial number I'm pretty sure your Squier was made in the Yako China plant sometime in '08 (as indicated by the first 2 numbers in the serial). I believe all the other numbers mean are the production number that it came off the assembly line.

Also the Affinity series is supposed to be better model with better pickups than the bullett series. I am new to Squiers also so if any of this information is false I apologize, but it is true according to the online sources that I have read. If I am wrong hopefully someone will correct me.

If you have any questions feel free to ask here. What little time I've been on here this seems to be a great forum, there are plenty of people willing to help and usually someone always has the answer you're looking for.

Good luck with your Squier,
Bill

I was looking at a squier affinity strat made in Indonesia, sunburst body with rosewood fret board and late 60's/70's style headstock, today in a store serial no. S/N IC050339299, from the spec sheets and this forum it would seem that this squire is "Start Playing" Special Cort (from the letters IC) made in 2005 (from 05).

From the serial no. it appears to have been part of a start playing pack is this possible? and was it made in 2005?

It was for sale as new and on its own! The action was high and switch in position one didn't produce sound through the amp, guy in shop said that he'd fix them prior to selling.

I was thinking of buying it, any advice?

Thanks
