I am looking at buying one of these special edition Lite Ash Stratocaster®
http://www.fender.com/products//search. ... 0265002506

I am wondering several things

Does anyone know where this one is made?

How does it sound?

And where does it stand against a MIM or American Standard?

Thanks for the responses

Jim

Hi blacktri99: I have a Lite Ash Tele. I like it very much. Sounds great, looks great and it really is lighter than the usual!

I found the neck very comfortable and nicely finished when playing in the shop. No problems at all bringing that one home.

On the other hand, when compared to my American Fenders the finish - fret ends, for example - is not quite as good on the Korean guitar. Nothing that can't be addressed with a bit of adjustment and fiddling here and there, though. And nothing to complain of at the excellent price point.

Also, my neck has a satin finish on it. Some like that and some don't. You just need to be aware of it...

One more thing. I notice that whereas there seem to be plenty of Lite Ash Strats and Teles available "pre-owned" on Ebay (in my part of the world) they often seem to sell for very close to the new price. Which ain't bad news if you are planning to buy new...

Cheers - C

its a MIK its very well crafted it has been compared to the
MIA ash strat. tone/sustain/playabilty it matches to any MIA strat.
some site's have called the fender special edition lite ash strat
one of the best production strats ever produced. the craftmanship on
this guitar is brilliant. the duncan alnico pro ll pu's are also brilliant.
and of course the ash body with birds eye maple v neck.

I put a voodoo 57 & did the series/parallel in mine , now it does the Steve Howe thing when I solo on the lower strings. plus the A5 sound blends nicely with the Seymour mid pickup.

I bought a 'the Paul 2' , put a PAF in it and I got all kinds of sounds

A friend of mine has a lite ash strat guitar in his arsenal. I've tried it a couple of months ago, it looks and sounds great. The three SD pickups on this beauty are the icing to the cake.

Fender hasn't released a matching pair of Precision and Jazz Basses to complete the package, e.g. a Precision with a SD SPB-3 split pickup or a Jazz with a set of SD Antiquity IIs.
