My friend found his old Fender Newporter, and wants me to fix/set it up because he doesn't know how. I already restrung and did a truss rod adjustment, but I also need to clean the body and fretboard. I don't know what the wood is made of, so I'm not sure what cleaning products to use.
Does anyone know what the wood is made of/what cleaning products I can use?
I have a 1992 newporter and mine is all mahogany.I just use a non treated polishing cloth for my guitars to wipe down after use, but if you need something stronger there are many different polishing and cleaning suppiles on all the major music websites.Fender ,Gibson, Meguires..... just google it and tons will pop up.
If it is really old you may want to just set it up and play it ,maybe just wipe off the funk.If it has rusted frets and is hammered than thats a whole different ball of wax
