I just bought a used 50's road worn telecaster serial number mx11101321 and I cannot find any
information on when it was made or where it was made. Any info would be greatly appreciated!

It was made in Mexico in 2011.

Send an e-mail with your serial number and description of the guitar to:

consumerrelations@fender.com

They will get back with you with the specs, etc. It may take a day or so, but they are pretty good about it.

All those sites are way behind; Fender switched the MIM guitars to serial numbers starting with "MX--" with the "--" being the last two digits of the year in the middle of 2010 (MIM numbers change over around the middle of the year, call it July-ish). So the ones from say mid-2010 to mid-2011 had numbers that started with "MX10"; then in mid-2011 they changed over to the "MX11" numbers. We'll start seeing "MX12" numbers sometime in the summer.

It's more confusing for the USA guitars - they first went to numbers that just started with a "10" in early 2010 but the "10" looked like the other 6 digits of the serial number. Then about April or so they switched to using numbers that started with "US10". And just to muddy the waters further when they started with the "10" numbers they stopped using an "S" in front of the numbers for Artist Signatures and they also stopped using the "D" in front of the numbers for the American Deluxe series.

It would be helpful if all these serial number sites (including Fender's own) would catch up, particularly since Fender changed everything in 2010.
